Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will personally preside over Pakatan Harapan's official candidate announcement ceremony for the 16th Johor State Election tonight, in a move that underlines the prime minister's direct engagement with what is shaping up to be a pivotal state-level contest.

The Majlis Pengumuman Calon Pakatan Harapan PRN Johor Ke-16 is scheduled to begin at 8.00pm at the Padang Bukit Gambir Extreme Park in Johor. Senior PH leadership from across the coalition's component parties — PKR, DAP and Amanah — are expected to be present alongside the prime minister.

Anwar confirmed his attendance through his official social media channels, stating he would make the journey to Bukit Gambir to jointly announce with PH leadership the candidates entrusted with the coalition's mandate in Johor. He framed the announcement as the beginning of the coalition's march toward electoral victory on July 11.

The event is positioned not merely as a procedural listing of candidate names but as a public declaration of PH's vision for Johor under a government aligned with the federal unity administration. This framing is deliberate: PH's candidates will be presented as an extension of the federal government's development agenda, offering voters in Johor the prospect of closer federal-state policy alignment.

Anwar's presence also serves a motivational function for party workers and volunteers. The PM's call for supporters to attend and take the first step toward victory is directed as much at the internal machinery as it is at general voters — signalling that the campaign begins immediately tonight.

PRN Johor Ke-16 will contest all 56 seats in the state assembly. Malayan Post will provide full coverage of tonight's announcement and the subsequent Johor campaign as it develops over the coming three weeks toward the July 11 ballot.
