Despite the enthusiasm and normalisation of digital interactions, more than half of Malaysian respondents—53 per cent—report feeling more exposed to online threats than they did just five years ago. Quantum computing, still largely experimental, is starting to feature in discussions about future vulnerability and resilience. Although only a small minority of respondents claim to fully understand quantum computing's mechanics, an striking 83 per cent of those with any familiarity already perceive it as a potential cybersecurity threat. This prescience suggests awareness is seeping into public consciousness about how quantum systems could theoretically break the cryptographic algorithms that currently protect sensitive data.
