The nine missing South Koreans comprised six employees of industrial plant builder Doosan Enerbility Co. and three personnel from Korea South-East Power Co., a state-owned power generation firm. All were working at the Upper Trishuli-1 hydropower plant construction site in Nepal's Rasuwa district, roughly 70 kilometres northwest of Kathmandu, when a catastrophic flash flood and mudslide swept through the area on Wednesday. The disaster's scale extends well beyond the South Korean contingent. Official reports indicate at least 160 deaths across the affected region, with 403 individuals still unaccounted for—a sobering figure that underscores the magnitude of the tragedy.
